Medical appraisal Medical appraisal

Annual appraisal is an opportunity to discuss and review your practice and performance, and enhance the quality of your work by planning your professional development. All doctors are required to undertake an appraisal each year (the appraisal year runs from 1 April to 31 March), both to demonstrate their fitness to practise and to remain on the performers list.

We've created a number of guides to the appraisal process – please click on the links on the left of this page to find out more. We hope you find these resources useful, but if you find you have further questions, please do get in touch with us here.

This information is based on local guidance set out by our Responsible Officer, Dr Paul Twomey. Further information is also available on the national NHS England website.
